Access to Shimabara Peninsula

Location of Shimabara Peninsula

The Shimabara Peninsula is located almost in the center of Kyushu.

Access by train

From Fukuoka (Hakata)

[To Shimabara Station]

Highway bus: Hakata Bus Terminal → Shimabara Station (required time: 3 and a half hours)

Train/Shinkansen: From Hakata Station, take the limited express “Relay Kamome” and the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen via Takeo Onsen (90 minutes) to Isahaya, then transfer to the Shimabara Railway to Shimabara Station (70 minutes).

[To Unzen Onsen]

After coming to Shimabara Station using the above route, please take the Shimabara Railway Bus for 90 minutes from Shimabara Station.

[To Obama Onsen]

Highway bus: Hakata Bus Terminal → Shimabara Station (required time: 3 and a half hours)

Train/Shinkansen: From Hakata Station, take the limited express “Relay Kamome” and the Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen via Takeo Onsen (90 minutes) to Isahaya, then please take the Shimabara Railway bus from Isahaya Station to Obama Onsen (1 hour).

From Nagasaki Airport

[To Shimabara Station]

Please take the Nagasaki Prefectural Bus to Isahaya Station (45 minutes), then transfer to Shimabara Railway to Shimabara Station (70 minutes).

[To Unzen Onsen]

After coming to Shimabara Station using the above route, take the Shimabara Railway bus from Shimabara Station to Unzen Onsen (90 minutes).

[To Obama Onsen]

Take the Nagasaki Prefectural Bus to Isahaya(30minutes), and from Isahaya take the Shimabara Railway Bus to Obama Onsen(50 minutes).

From Nagasaki City

[To Shimabara Station]

Please take the Nagasaki Prefectural Bus from Nagasaki Station to Isahaya Station (45 minutes), then transfer to Shimabara Railway to Shimabara Station (70 minutes).

[To Unzen Onsen]

Please take the Nagasaki Prefectural Bus from Nagasaki Station to the Shimabara Railway Bus bound for Unzen Onsen (90 minutes).

[To Obama Onsen]

From Kumamoto Airport(Some sections are by ferry)
